Nashville, TN –Today United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local 1995 announced its endorsement for Jeff Yarbro to serve as State Senator for District 21 in the Tennessee State Senate.
“Jeff Yarbro is the strong voice that our members and the unrepresented working families need in a State Legislature that is making it harder to earn a living with a full time job,” said UFCW, Local 1995 President Greg Stallings. “Jeff gets it and knows how to get things done. We’re excited to join his growing coalition to bring new energy and new leadership to the legislature,” Stallings continued.
UFCW, Local 1995's members will make their voices heard in Jeff's campaign and in campaigns across Tennessee, ensuring that the voices of working Tennesseans are loud and clear. Whether it's canvassing, phone-banking, or spreading the word to our friends and neighbors, the UFCW, Local 1995 is committed to helping Jeff succeed.
Rick Major, UFCW, Local 1995’s Secretary/Treasurer added that, “Jeff has been a longstanding advocate for working people in Tennessee, as well as a reliable friend of the UFCW. We were proud to be the first of many unions to endorse Jeff in 2010. That's why we wanted to be the first to endorse him in his 2014 race. He is going to be an effective leader in turning around this out-of-control legislature.”
UFCW, Local 1995 represents nearly ten thousand workers in the food service and meat processing industries, including hundreds of Kroger grocery workers in District 21 in Nashville.
